LORISSA CRUZ
Tohono O'odham    

      Lorissa Cruz is a member of the Tohono O'odham nation from Nolick. She specializes in close weave and split stitch and old traditional designs. She learned basketweaving from her mother, whom she helped out, usually after school and on weekends, to help support the family. The designs she uses are those taught by her mother and grandmother, as well as from pictures in arts and crafts books. She also weaves letters and names into her basket patterns.
