Tohono O'odham

    Eva Chico is Tohono O'odham of the Ban Clan and lives in Little Tucson. She finished her first basket at the age of eight. Her sister is currently working to finish her first basket.

     Eva weaves split stitch baskets that her dad taught her to weave.

     Eva thinks basketweaving is interesting and fun, and likes it because everybody in her family knows how to weave. Weaving gives her something to do instead of just sitting around. She has gone to harvest yucca and beargrass with her family. And also has cleaned and prepared the materials for storage and later use.
